    Grants Program

    The Rush Community Grants Program annually provides direct funding to over 50 non-profit organizations that offer education programming in all disciplines of the arts in New York City and South Florida.

    Guidelines

    Rush Philanthropic funding is limited to organizations based in New York City’s five boroughs: Manhattan, Brooklyn, Bronx, Queens and Staten Island. Grants range from $5,000 to $10,000. Organizations must have programs focused on visual or performing arts with additional concentration on career development programs designed to expose young people to options within creative related professions.

    While funding is traditionally on invitation only basis, interested organizations may introduce the Foundation to the work of the organization by submitting a one-page letter outlining the following:

    • Mission
    • History
    • Programs

    Grants Application

    Organizations must have 501(c)3 status as designated by the IRS and demonstrate a record of service for at least two year. Additional factors considered in selecting grantees include:

    • Quality if programs and services offered within the visual or performing arts and targets towards New York City and/or South Florida youth ages K-12
    • History for achievements in programs targeting disadvantaged youth, especially culturally diverse populations underrepresented in the arts disciplines
    • Depth of knowledge of the issues involved in helping at-risk youth develop life skills through art-related experiences
    • Soundness of the organization’s management and qualifications of staff.
    • Completeness of monitoring and tracking procedures
    • Commitment of the organization to continue the program after the term of Rush Philanthropic’s grant and financial support for the program  from other sources

    Deadlines

    As stated above, submissions for the Rush Community Grants Program is by invitation only, however, inquiry letters, as stated above, are accepted between October and May of each year. If you are invited to apply for a grant, you will be notified during the month of June.

    Grant Applications are due by September 1st and Grants are awarded in the fall of each year.
